Dawn’s light
sluicing colour
through the streets
Dawn’s light
sluicing colour
through the streets
In a new bed
do you dream
new dreams?
Outside my night-washed
window the
silent light arrives
Midnight lightning show
Its audience asleep
Thunder claps for encores
‘Really?’ I hear
from a passing car
Travelling credulity
Drops growing larger
I once caught a
shower this big
Rainbow lorikeets in the
poinciana the more you
look the more you see
New stairs for old
Old feet wearing them
up and down
Prints in dried mud
Foot and paw
An earthed friendship
A snail crosses
my path slowly
slowly I wait
If toes could
speak would they
talk the walk?
Yellow butterflies
ganging up on
the blue sky
Crickets and geckos
shushing and tutting
after the storm
